What a goof...

Good lord, my voice is pretty annoying. And these videos never seem to end well, but they sure are cute (says the mom who birthed this sweetness). She still mumbles quite a bit, but hearing her speech develop day to day, we can really recognize what she is saying. Her hair is crazy. Miss Keia is all about rocking the side pony.

What's new-14 months

Well, just 2 days shy of 14 months, but good enough, right? I actually have time to blog, so I am taking advantage. I keep forgetting to pull pictures off my camera from my brothers graduation and Christmas, but they are coming I promise!! It may just be a picture over haul of a post, but I am sure y'all don't mind. So what's the miss up too, let's see...

*She officially has 12 teeth that are all the way in. 4 on top, 4 on bottom and 4 molars. We are praying for a break here people. She has consistently been popping out teeth for over 6 months now. It's funny because we have a friend whose baby is turning 1 in a couple weeks and she just now started teething. Every baby is truly different.

*Other than the last few nights, she still sleeps amazing.

*She's a totally a lambie and blankie girl. Any recieving blanket will do. If she sees a blanket, she insists on carrying it around with her every where. Sometimes she will have 3 at a time. She rubs either that or lambie on the bridge of her nose or upper lip for comfort.

*This kid loves to spin and dance. I love it. I will try an sneak a video of her dancing to her new favorite toy ever. This thing keeps Em entertained for hours. She runs and pushes the button and when the music starts, she spins and shakes what her booty. I love it.

*She is in the one year room at school now, and LOVES it. She is becoming much more vocal, and really learning a lot just by being around the older kids.

*New words-cheese(pronounced cheeeeese), please (peas) which she signs and says, all done (ah yon) signed and said, uh-oh (said just like that with a pause between words), more (moe) mostly signed, but sometimes said, ouch and boo. These are words that if prompted once, she will continue to say over and over again. She is getting to the mimicking stage now, where we ask her to say a word and she will really concentrate on saying it. Sometimes it comes out right, sometimes not so much. We usually say the word a few times and she will try and say it back. Last night we were working on Nonni (my mom), and it came out Nana (nah nah), but she was trying really hard.

*She signs please to EVERYTHING. If she wants something, she will usually always sign please, without being prompted unless she is tired. When we ask if she is all done, she will sign it back to us. And she is starting to use more, more often. Next we will work on thank you, which will be hard because it is similar to her blowing kisses to people, which she loves to do.

*When you tell her someone is going "bye-bye," she will wave a blow a kiss.

*She is between 9 and 12 month pants, starting to grow out of 12 month shirts, between a 3 and 4 shoe, and still in size 3 diapers. She may be in them forever. Weight at last check was 19.6oz, before she was sick. I will have to put her on the scale at home to see if she's back up to at least that.

*She is still rear facing. She couldn't face forward if we wanted her to yet, because most car seats are from 20-22 lbs forward facing. We made a family decision to do extended rear facing with her. Mainly because she is so tiny as it is, and honestly she doesn't know any better. She doesn't seem overly bothered about her view. I am researching seats, because hers is so reclined, I think she would like to sit up a little straighter. There are so many options out there. So we will probably get a convertible that allows for rear facing, and keep her that way till her legs get too long or she is overly bugged. The goal is 2 years, but I would be happy with 18 months.

Emmy is just so laid back and happy all the time. It was so hard to see her sick last week, because she was just not herself. She is totally back to her silly little self, and we are all getting back into the routine of things. I just love being around her and watching all the new things she is learning everyday!

Herpetic Gingivostomatitis

Edit to blog title. It's titis, not tits...Thank you Cissy and Zig for pointing out my spelling mistake and for the laugh. ;)

AKA the worst things to happen to our family since Emmy was born. AWFUL. Last Saturday (1/15) we noticed that Em wasn't quite acting like herself. She was a little cranky and she wouldn't eat. Not even blueberries, which is madness. Sunday she woke up with a fever of 102. Monday, Emily went to Grandma's because it was MLK day and school was closed. She was really needy and wanted to be held all day long. Plus she was still running a high fever. I took Tuesday off to take her to the doctor. The doc checked her mouth and Em had little sores all over the underside of her tongue. I thought those were bad, but it was just the beginning. We were sent home with a prescription of lots of love and snuggles. By Wednesday, her gums were super swollen and inflamed. If she even tried to smile, they would bleed. It was so awful. The fever was gone by Wednesday night, but the sores stayed. To make it worse, I got sick. On Thursday, Emmy and I snuggled in bed watching Mickey Mouse Club House all day long. I was thankful that she was so mellow, because I would have had a hard time keeping up otherwise. We are so lucky to have family in town because between Grandma, Nonni, Zig and I, we all took turns snuggling with Em. She is feeling so much better, but she still has sores, which according to daycare means she can't come back. I totally understand, I don't want anyone else to get sick, but it just sucks to have to pay for her to go, when she isn't there. I hope and pray that none of my other friend's little ones get this. It was so sad knowing Emily was hungry, but her mouth hurt so bad she couldn't eat.

They weighed her at the doctor and she weighed 19.6oz, up 6oz since her last visit (12 months), but I am sure she lost that by now. On a positive note, Emily started saying cheese, please, uh-oh and boo this week. She is quite the chatter box.

Video sweetness

I have been the WORST blogger every lately. Sorry guys. I have been swamped at work, which is actually a welcome feeling. I was getting bored for a while there. Anyway, here are a couple videos for you to enjoy. There are some laughs, some spins, and even some driving. I will try and upload some Christmas pictures this week I promise!

Emily is 13 months old!

I have a big Christmas post planned, but in between family and running after my 13 month old (O.M.G) I haven't had time to get everything together. Emily's school was closed for the holiday's, so for the last 2 weeks, Em and I have been hanging out and staying busy. I am amazed at how much she has changed in just the last 2 weeks!

At 13 months Emily...

*Can sign eat, more, please, baby, milk, water (kinda), and all done (kinda).
*Runs
*still saying the same words as last month for the most part, just using them more often and getting better at using them in the right context.
*is getting 2 more molars, make that 12 teeth
*is still a tiny peanut. Wears size 3 diapers, size 12m shirts, 9-12 month pants, size 3 shoe.
*loves to be chased around the house by Abby.
*gives lots of hugs and kisses. The kisses are open mouthed and sloppy, but so sweet.
*When you ask if she wants milk she runs to the fridge, and if you ask if she wants to eat, she runs to her high chair.
*loves other kids. The smile on her face when she sees other kids just warms my heart.
*fake laughs and it hysterical...and contageous.
*loves animals.
*loves, I mean LOVES, to dance. I am going to have to get a video one day.

I say I love every stage, but she is really getting so fun to be around. She is so social and just a happy little girl.
