Sophia is TWO!

True to form, I am about 2 months behind in posting.  Hey, at least I am consistent.  My sweet baby is offically 2 and a toddler.  How the heck did that happen??  She has grown up so much in the last few months and I am so proud of the sweet independent little girl she is becoming.  This post will serve as a little update of all things Sophia to date.

Sophia loves:
  • Cereal bars and pancakes for breakfast. They have a full breakfast at school, but she needs a little snack to keep her from being a crazy person on the way to school.  Not the healthiest but she loves it.
  • Jumping.  Girl could jump all day long. The trampoline Aunt Koley got us last year is God sent.
  • Emily.  Sophia is obsessed with Emily and will do what ever she does.
  • Princesses. Because Emily loves them, so she must too!
  • Bubbles
  • Being outside
  • Being barefoot
  • Doing pretty much anything by herself.  We hear "I can do it" all day long.
  • Singing. We sing about 25 songs each night before bed.
  • Dancing
  • Reading books. Same as the songs.  It's her stalling mechanism.
  • Her big girl room!
  • Eating chalk.  Yeah, we are working on that.
  • Putting things in her nose....We aren't excited about that.
  • Snuggling with mommy.  She tells me at least once every day that she wants to snuggle with me.  I absolutely LOVE it.
  • Bugs. It's a love hate.  She will say "awe, it's a fying bug, he's sad, he's crying" and then she will pick it up and scream, and then she will try and kill it, and then she will cry.
  • Talking. The minute her feet hit the floor, she is talking.
Stats:
  • Height: 31 3/4 5th percentile
  • Weight: 25 lbs 25th percentile
  • Clothes: She wears 18 month -2T and between a 4/5 shoe.
  • She was still rear facing in the car, up until last week. She is teenie and I can't control how other people drive, so I want to keep her as safe as I possibly can. My plan was to keep her that way for a while, but she was ready.  She kept telling me she was a big girl like Emmy and wanted a big girl seat.  I was very happy to have made it past 2 and she is so proud to be like her big sister.

What's new:
In the last few months we converted Sophia's crib into a toddler bed at around 23 months, and now the full size big girl bed.  She loves her big bed and sleeps great!  The transition was a little rough at first with her coming out of her room constantly, but now she is learning her boundaries.  She does stall like crazy at night, but for the most part, it was a pretty easy transition.

Sophia is really starting to show a ton of interest in the potty.  She asks to go often and has done both 1 & 2 several times.  We are a little behind with her on the whole potty training thing compared to Emily, but they are both in very different situations with school, so we aren't worried.  Emily was with Stephanie and had a lot of one on one attention.  Sophia is in a class with 12 kids and 1:6 ratio, so we didn't want to push her too hard.  She moved up to the 2 year old room, and they take the kids potty every 20 mins, so I think we are really close.  I plan to take a 3 day weekend  the weekend of 5/16 and get rid of all things diapers!  WE CAN'T WAIT!  It will be sad that we will no longer have a "baby" but we are really enjoying how routine and easy our life has become. I am praying she is as easy as Emmy was, who was potty trained almost completely day 2 and only had a few accidents during the day ever after that weekend. She also potty trained herself at night and during nap time with in a few weeks and has never had an accident.  Fingers crossed.  When we potty train we go full force, no looking back.  We go straight for the panties and I refuse to use pull ups.  To each their own, I think it makes it harder to fully potty train, so we are sticking to that.  :)

Sophia talks a TON!!!  She communicates very well, using full sentences and is pretty easy to understand. There are some times where we have NO clue what she is saying, but she will show us what she needs and it makes sense after the fact.  She is polite and says please and thank you often and she is starting to say her prayers at meals and before bed.  It's all very sweet to watch.  She is literally a sponge.  Some of my favorite words she says are "Meow-se" (Mouse). Hair Plane (airplane). I doing a great job! Mommy, let's nuggle (Snuggle).

Her birthday party:
We had a Sofia the First themed party at her request.  We gave her some options and that is what she chose.  It turned out really cute.  As the girls get older and time seems to disappear, I wasn't as crafty at this party as I have been in the past, but that's ok.  It still turned out really cute and I was really proud of the cake I made.  As with any party for a kid with a huge family, there were a lot of people there and it was chaiotic at times, but I was happy there were so many people who wanted to celebrate her!  I didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked, but we lived the memory!

My sweet Sophia:
You are so perfect and beautiful in every way.  I love that you know what you want and are willing to work to get it.  You are such a good little girl, even though you can be stubborn and throw a mean tantrum at times.  You are my free bird.  You are never shy, and love to talk to anyone and everyone. You are very observant and watch attentively what is going on around you before trying to do something yourself, but you have a wild side and love to run, jump climb.  I hope you always have your free spirit!  I can't wait to watch you grow each year and I am so proud to be your mommy!

Disney

Man this post is LOOONNNNGGGGGG over due.  I am not sure why really. I think I set it up to publish and it just never happened.

We went to Disney just before Emily's 4th birthday because we were due to visit my sister who lives in LA. I mean, why would we go all the way there and not go to Disney. We spoiled Emily a little on the first day and she was still three (which is WAY worse than 2 by the way) but overall we had a great time.  Emily got to ride all the fun kid rides and the adults were each able to sneak away and get in some grown up rides as well.  Emily LOVED meeting all the Princesses.  She was a little start struck and it was so much fun to watch! For those wondering, we did not take Sophia this time, but plan on doing the same thing with her when she is close to 4.  Such a magical age.

four.

Wow! FOUR. Four wonderful, amazing, beautiful, HARD years.  Emily has brought us so much joy as parents, and has also taught us so much about life.  She is a free spirit, with a stubborn personality.  She knows what she wants and she will dig her heels in and die on that hill.  I compromise a lot, much more than I should.  My husband is amazing.  He is strong and knows when to compromise and when to dig in his heels.  (Emmy may or may not have gotten this from her daddy. :) )

Three was so hard.  The hardest year yet.  Terrible twos, that's laughable.  Three is the real deal.  Emily spent the year learning boundaries and testing them.  There was lots of laughing, lots of tears, and lots of drama, but every single day was worth it.  Because the bad days were far out weighed by all the good days.  Emily is an AMAZING sister. She is patient and kind with Sophia.  She talks to her and is always looking out for her.  She shows her how to be a kid, sings with her, and teaches her so many words.  If Sophia is awake and around, Emily is helping her learn new things every day.  It is such a beautiful thing to watch. They have such an amazing bond.

Things she loves:
  • Dressing up like a Princess.  Every day is Halloween. EVERY.SINGLE.DAY
  • Coloring and practicing her letters
  • Singing
  • Reading books
  • Anything Disney Princess
  • Little Einsteins, still. She also has really started liking Sofia the First.  We stick to Disney.
  • Boots
  • Dresses. ONLY dresses.  It's a battle in the morning if there are no clean dresses.
  • Cereal bars
  • Her trampoline.  She loves to jump!  Really wishing it was warm outside.
  • Her friends at school. She talks about them constantly.
  • Her daddy.  This is her number one.  She LOVES her daddy.
Starting last year, I started asked Emily a set of questions and documenting her answers.  It's so much fun to see how her preferences change and watching her grow.  Lots of her answers were the same, many were different. All words are hers. :)

A little bit of catching up to do...

I realize I am months behind where I should be.  This year flew by for us.  I started a new job, which I love, the girls moved to a new school, Sophia had her first birthday,  we moved houses, we traveled, Emmy turned four and the girls fell in love with Christmas! It was a pretty good year.  I have no complaints.  We stayed busy and lived life, which meant this blog was neglected a bit.  I will do my best to catch you all up!

The biggest change we had this year is we said goodbye (kind of) to our first family house and hello to a new one.  We kept our old one as a rental and that is working out really well so far.  Our new house has a pool and is so close to our parents and in a neighborhood we love.  The house is comfortable and works really well for our family. We couldn't be more excited!  Plus, it was pretty well updated when we moved in, so we only have had a few small projects for now!

Goodbye Freedom Way!
We have been in the new house for about 6 months.  I have yet to capture a photo of us out front.  In due time people.  But we have had some fun in the pool and loved entertaining in our new huge back yard!

This summer we rented a beach house in Panama City, FL with Grandma, Papa and the Kaases', which meant, Sophia had her first plane trip and both girls saw the ocean for the first time.  We spent a lot of time on the beach.  Our house had it's own private area and the sand was so soft. We spent hours each day collecting sea shells and making memories with cousins!

In September, I made my first work trip to San Francisco.  Rough life. Here is the view from my office window! Now that is the kind of work travel I could get used to.  San Francisco is really a beautiful city!

Next, as an early birthday present to Emily, we went to CA to visit Aunt Koley and Emily had her first trip to Disneyland.  What a magical experience that was!  We had an absolute blast!! That deserves it's own picture post, stay tuned!

In October, we took our annual trip to the Pumpkin Patch with the Korpan's.  This year, baby MacKenzie was with us!  We always have a great time eating lots of food and picking the perfect pumpkin!

Flash back time!  Here is Emmy in 2010, 2011, and 2012! Crazy how much she is changed!
Emmy 2010-11 months!

Emily 2011-2 years!

Emily 2012-3 years!

I tried to do the same with Sophia, but she wasn't having it this year...
Sophia 2013-20 months
Sophia 2012-8 months
Then came Halloween!  We always have a great time carving pumpkins.  It was super cold this year on Halloween so we took the girls to a few houses in the neighborhood and headed home to pass out our own candy, which I think Emmy liked more.

We celebrated Emily's 4th birthday this year and had an amazing Christmas, both of which I have already scheduled blogs about.  We really had a great year!  We are looking forward to what 2014 has to offer, but if it was just like 2013, we'd be just as happy!  Here are a few other randoms!

Balloon Fiesta

Trip to the dentist! Sophia's first!

Sweet sisterly love
